Still in Florida

Yes! We are still in Florida. And we expect to be here for at least another month.

No! We didn’t intend to be snow birds. It just worked out that way. Imagine. Fleeing San Diego for warmer and drier weather. But, I’m rarely one to brag about the weather. Warm weather in the winter time tends to bring an infestation of northerners. It doesn’t leave a lot of room to walk on the beach. Although that doesn’t seem to be such a great a problem in Florida. Here the shuffleboard courts seem to take up the slack.

We have taken the time to make a lot of day trips. Last week we visited friends in St. Petersburg. We liked what we saw of the city. It has a beautiful waterfront. Dianne wanted to buy every house she saw.

Monday, we visited a friend of Dianne’s who she had known while growing up back in Ohio. Kathy and her husband, Tony were the most gracious hosts. They live near Daytona Beach. They treated us to an airplane ride around the area.

On the way home from Daytona I decided to stop and look up another friend in a small town near Cape Canaveral. Flip and I had been stationed in the Army in the Panama Canal Zone nearly forty years ago. We renewed contact about four years ago and then lost it again. I had become disappointed that he hadn’t returned my calls. I dropped in unannounced. We discovered that the telephone company was the culprit. They had changed the area code and didn’t bother to tell me. We will resume our visit in about two weeks.
